About Toni
Toni Peters is a memoirist and the founder of Warrior Storytellers, LLC. She writes about family, heritage, and the stories people carry.
I grew up in a family that told stories. At holidays and family gatherings, we'd sit for hours going through years of old photographs while someone explained who was who and what happened next. Those afternoons are some of my most precious memories. As a teenager, I learned that the stories I'd been told about my own family weren't the whole story. Piecing together the truth took years of questions, old records, and conversations with the relatives who remembered. That's when I understood how much of a family disappears when nobody writes it down.
I've been writing it down ever since. My memoir, I Am Called Warrior, is forthcoming from She Writes Press. My essay series, The Weight We Inherited, follows my family back to my great-grandparents' farm in Oklahoma and the records that told me who we really were. Right now I'm gathering stories for Warriors Among Us, an anthology of women who rose as warriors to overcome trauma and become the people they were always meant to be.
Good Medicine Stories is the work I want to spend the rest of my life doing: sitting with the people in your family who remember, listening, and turning what they tell me into a book your grandchildren will hold. I only take on four family books a year, so yours never has to wait in line behind someone else's.

How I work
I listen before I write
Every book starts with conversation. I spend the interview hours learning how your family talks, what it values, and what it's been through. The writing comes after.
I write in your family's voice
When your family reads the book, it should sound like them: their rhythms, their humor, the way Grandma always started a story. I keep their own words wherever I can.
I handle the whole project
Interviews, writing, editing, design, and printing. You won't have to hire or manage anyone else. I take the book from our first conversation to the box of books at your door.
Everything is in writing
Word ranges, payment milestones, revision rounds, and estimated timelines are all spelled out in our agreement before any work begins.
Ready to talk about your family's book?
The first conversation is free and there is no obligation. Tell me about your family and what you'd like to preserve.
